Arguably the greatest test match innings of all time....

2 weeks before I was due to fly to the UK so was off work and watched the whole thing on TV.

To this day the cleanest hitting I've ever seen.

Yeah must of been scary as shit facing Ashley Giles.... fantastic knock...

Can think of shed loads of better TEST Innings... just from an English perspective...

Bothams 118 and 149* in 81... his 137 in 1985
Gooch 154 v Windies
Atherton's 185* v SA
KP's 158 v Aus at Oval
Nassers double ton v Aus...
Stokes ton at Headingley
Butchers 170 v Aus'

Proper TEST innings v top class bowling.... not Ashley Giles.

Definitely NOT the greatest Test match innings of all time

Presume that list below is a few years old as you'd think Stokes at Headingley would be in.
Hard to judge innings from the likes of Bradman or others from the 1930's etc but would say I'm not sure Lara's 375 should be there ... his 150 odd no to win that Test v Australia definitely deserves to be where it is.
Glad to see that Kim Hughes 100 v the Windies at the MCG was in. Top class bowlers on a dangerous pitch.

Jack Leaches's 1 not out at Headingly, contributed more to to a victory, than a lost cause slogathon.

As Tanman says, Gooch's knock at Headingly, was truly magnificent. And match winning.

Top ten test innings.

Obviously, no Kiwi's in it.

Man hits cricket ball to 40 yard boundary regularly.

Re: Cleanest SPLATTING!!!
It wouldn't be within the top 100 of the greatest test innings of all time. It was a good display of hitting in a lost cause, but that is all. Granted near the end England were possibly getting a tiny bit worried. Pretty flat pitch with no demons in it at all. It does not compare to Gooch's 154 not out against peak Ambrose, Patterson, Marshall and Walsh in tricky overcast conditions.
